Glossary does not 'seem' to be working properly for us.

Our school has recently updated to Moodle 1.2 and we are attempting to use the glossary module. We have set up a Main Glossary with the Automatically Link Glossary Entries option set to Yes. The Display Format is simple, dictionary style, and the options Show 'Special' Link, Show Alphabet and Show 'All' Link, are all set to Yes. We have chosen not to allow ratings.
We have created two entries so far and the text within the course that matches these entires is highlighted by a grey box. When you are within the course and click on the highlighted text a small window opens but does not show the glossary entry for that word. Also when you go directly to the glossary it does show all entries but when you try to browse alphabetically, for example looking under A, it shows no entries even though the word annotate has been added to the glossary by a teacher and even though when we set up the glossary we slected yes for Show Alphabet.
Can anyone suggest what we may be doing wrong or if perhaps there is a setting in Moodle's overall administration that may need tweaking by our technician.

Many thanks and kind regards Sue
