Attendance Comment Problem

Attendance Comment Problem

We have experienced a problem with the comment jumping around to a different user with the new module and I was writing to notify Dmitry but to warn people what is happening and how to fix it.

With the new system when registration is taken for a course you now have to choose absent or present rather than students all being marked as absent. We have a register which includes teachers and some courses have 3 or 4 teachers on them. When one teachers takes the register they have not been marking the others present or absent, just leaving it blank.

What this has been doing is making the comment in the comment box move to a different student when the OK button is pressed. This then logs the comment against another student. For example:

Student S was absent because of a dentist appointment.  The comment "Dentist" was written in and OK'd and saved.  Because Teacher A did not have any mark (Present or Absent) recorded against her the comment actually jumped into Student T, who was present.  On a second viewing of the attendance for that session Student S was absent but no comment and Student T was present but comment was at the dentist.

The way to fix it is to ensure all students and teachers are marked Present or Absent.  I know it should be that way but if you forget or don't bother you will get data errors.

Dmitry, I don't know if you can look at this.  I am not sure what solution would be easiest to implement.

Many thanks,

Duncan Edwards

Hi Duncan!

If student is absent because of a dentist appointment or somthing else you should mark him as "Excused" and comment.
It is not good idea leave student without any mark at all.

But in any case you wrote about real bug. I fix it in near future!

Thanks!
