Courses and course formats

Could someone help me understand what a meta course is and how it is supposed to work?

My understanding is that they are courses that are connected. Based on this, here is what I'd like to do:

I have 1 math "course of study" Math Principles in Action. There are 3 different "courses" within that "course of study": Algebraic Reasoning, Technology, Problem-Solving.

Each of these are indepth and quite individual in nature and presentation. Over the school year, students will have to take all three in order to get there math credit for the year.

I want the courses to be connected so that the students have to take all three to get credit. However, I want them to have the liberty of choosing which oorder to take the courses in.

Is this the idea behind meta courses?
