I think if you want to create separate areas for separate modules, then you would have to do this by:
1. creating a meta course for each module that you want to treat in this way.
2. for each of these meta courses, include as a child course, each course that will have access to the meta course module.
3. In the course(s) (not the meta courses), insert resource types 'Link to a file or web site', linking back to the various course modules in the meta courses.
