Greetings, Carmeta!

The answer is yes! Go download the appropriate package here (windows or mac--look at the tabs at the top of the screen.) You will have a full personal moodle on your own computer.

I just can't figure out what I am doing wrong after downloading the file. I just can seem to find the "set-up_xampp.bat" file. HELP!

Carmeta,

I made this video for moodle 1.6 but same general idea applies.

It might help.

I'm currently in the same boat, and it is sinking.  I watched the video that Jeff suggested.  It's a great video.  Unfortunately, the "download" page no longer has the complete download packages when you scroll down to the bottom of the page.  What happened to them?

YES!  Thank you.  Somewhere in the installation instructions, it calls it something else.  But yes, it must've been modified since they wrote those instructions, and I found it under the Windows tab.  Doesn't say "complete package" download or anything, but that's the one that worked for me.

Thanx, and hope someday I can be knowledgeable enough about all of this to help others in return.

I have a question. I am confused about the server stuff and the Php, Mysqwl stuff. If you download Moodle to your computer, is your computer hten considered a server? And how could I try it out if I didn't have a server to store course materials on? And if I download Moddle onto my computer, does PhP and Mysqwl download also, automatically? I have been looking for answers to theses basic questioan but couldn't find any. Thanks in advance for your help.

Good afternoon,

I am also having problems with the desktop installation. I am trying to install the Windows package (v.1.6.5+) into a folder on an external drive. Everything seemed to be running smoothly until I reached "Setting up database." I received the message that the set up was successful, clicked on Continue, and was sent back to the license page. From there it took me back to database set up where I received error messages stating that the tables are duplicates, already exist, etc. When I click on Continue, it takes me back to the license page and we continue in circles. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.
