Has anyone got any very user friendly, low reading age, highly graphic, stimulating materials that they are willing to share with our educational charity that works with kids who have failed at most educational opportunities they have previously been faced with. We want them to have a sense of fulfillment and success if nothing else. Motivation and self esteem are more valkuable to us at this stage then educational achievement. We work predominantly in and around Birmingham UK. Please contact chrysalis@club2000.org.uk. This is my first day on Moodle and I am thrilled with what I'ver seen so far!

Chris - I do not have materials but I want to applaud you for your work at using Moodle to reach out to those who are disadvantaged and vulnerable. I would love to see developed a series of Open Content Moodle courses that provide basic information about health, chemical dependency, vocational skills (like how to prepare for a job interview, etc.). These are the types of classes that I saw being taught at Covenant House. It would also be great to see free courses developed for training students to take a high school equivalency exam (what in the US we call the GED). You may enjoy some of the software from Hot Potatoes as it allows for the creation of crossword puzzles. In any case, I am thrilled to read of your attempt to work with those who most need educational support. Happy Moodling!

My first day on Moodle and I feel so encouraged to haver a message from you. many thanks. For ten years we have been working with this group and have designed accredited materials for them to experience success but now I want to develop elearning stuff along just the lines you say. . . we have kids getting qualifications by designing and customising cars and doing stuff on body piercing etc great fun. the kids are usually 99.5% great when you get past the initial grot! Watch this space and we will see how we get on with Moodle . . . Take Care Chris

Feel free to let me know if you have any Moodle questions. This is precisely the type of education that I am interested in supporting and seeing developed. Peace - Anthony
