Hi
Been searching for a while now in the forums and cannot find an answer.
Is it possible to set the 'role' of a user within a csv file when uploading users?
For example, heads of department should be 'Editing Teachers',general teaching staff should have a 'Non-editing Teacher' role and students should be 'student'.
I would also like to know the answer to this. Hope this little bump helps.
Aaron
Hi,
You can do this by going to Users->Accounts->Upload Users. There's a help file there you can read regarding the formatting of the csv file.
Cheers,
Yu

I was trying to do this today - I saw the help file and thought I had it cracked, but when I tried to upload my users to include their role, it didn't work - it said as it uploaded 'cannot assign role'. Now I did not have a 'type' in my csv file - do I need that - and if so, what is the difference between a 'type' and a 'role'?
Actually the file you are talking about lets us attribute the role a user has in a particular course. However, is there a way that we can identify the general system role for a user in the system?
At the moment we need to set them up manually here - /admin/roles/manage.php but with over 5000 users (and I'm usually bulk uploading a thousand at a time) it becomes an almost impossible task to do manually.
Any advice?
Many thanks,
Kristina
