Two quite difficult questions as they could have very complicated answers.
1. Moodle.org is a treasure trove of information about Moodle. Learn how to search it and you will be repaid with lots of useful information (and maybe some more answerable questions).
2. Many different views are expressed on this site but because the participants share a common interest in Moodle, they tend to be positive towards Moodle.
P.s. Showing your identity might be appreciated too.

Dear fff ff,

Let me think...

  • Moodle.org - wonderful, great, terrific
  • a balanced view, of course

Thanks for asking.

Best regards,

That sounds like a bit screwed up homework there?

1. Moodle.org... in overall? From the top of my head I would say that, in the postmodern sense, in the works of Eco, a predominant concept is the concept of posttextual narrativity. Thus, many discourses concerning the neotextual paradigm of reality exist.

2. If the presemantic paradigm of reality holds, we have to choose between the presemioticist paradigm of narrative and Sontagist camp.

Apologies if this was an honest question and not a troll or a homework-solution-fishing...

Well, it was quite entertaining. In a post-neo-structuralist sense.

Glad to hear we've gone beyond the naivete of constructivist vs. constructionist debates! As you can imagine, the ontology of Moodle is completely irrelevent here. Fff, I suggest you focus on the epistomology of performity which is well, exactly where Moodle rocks. Needless to say, this puts all those cognitive-biased instructional designers on their a**ses. rânjet mare

The orangeness of the Moodle

Do the semiotics of the color which some of us call orange inform our co-evolving narrative or do you see it as serving an essentially transgressive meta-discursive function?

I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the jargon in your question but there have been a lot of studies done on the psychological effects of color, particularly in the restaurant business. I don't know about Web sites though.

Following with this response, if you google "web design and  psychology of color"  you'll find a wealth of information regarding color usage on websites.

I think we were being facetious. surâs

But sure, people have different psychological reactions to color. Many of us see orange as a cheeful and happy color, but it can inspire stronger reactions in some.

My reaction to orange is probably entirely different from that of someone in Northern Ireland or The Netherlands (and theirs in turn would differ significantly from each other).

My post title came from a chapter in Moby Dick entitled "The Whiteness of the Whale", in which Melville discourses at great length on the semiotics of the color white.

I'm not hatin' on the orange here -- the same would be true of almost any color. I like orange fine!

Orange? In Hokkaido and Wisconsin (the places I come from)...

This is called 'yellow', not orange.

This is called 'ORANGE'.

Surely someone in the colour business can tell us a more specific word for the Moodle-colour-theme. surâs

Here's an interesting article on how different languages distinguish (or don't) blue and green. No idea how accurate it might be.

I think you Wisconsinites draw finer distinctions in that region of the color gamut because of all the cheese. surâs

Probably the best description of the Moodle color would be the hex code, but then you get into differences between monitors (unless carefully calibrated) and so on...

Don-Are you using a laptop? The Moodle color changes how far back you have your screen tipped....

It's orange. Close in color to the Wisconsin cheddar I have here in my refrigerator.

Yes, of course! That was the problem. wink

For those of you unfamiliar with stereotypes of Wisconsin, residents there are known as "cheeseheads", and often wear "cheese" apparal to football games.

The connection to Moodle, you wonder? The main professional team in that state, Green Bay Packers, is licensed GPL. It is owned by the public, the community of fans--and thus the passion to support it is phenomenal.

The fact that Wisconsin is famous for its cheese also has spawned the phrase "behind the cheddar curtain" to refer to the state.

To confuse things further, I had always thought the Moodle colour (note the correct spelling) to be gradiated, thus performing the function of being many things to many people - much like Moodle itself. It could of course be my eyes, my spectacles, or both or neither its been a long ______________ (insert appropriate term here)
