I´m thinking of using your product for a school of vocational education. If we use moodel, we´ll work on a German translation.

Another question: Are you planning on a survey module. I mean something where you can ask participants a couple of questions and they can answer it within a range of 1 to 5 or something. It would be like the survey you are using already but with questions the admin/teacher could type in.

Hi!

I'm working on a german translation
(moodle.edugo.de).

I'm not a native translator so help for a better translation is welcome zwinkernd

I think the translation will be finished at the end of next week...

Martin, I will let you know and email the files to you when I'm finished.

Thanks for this good software!

With best regards,
Andreas

Hi again!

I'm 95% finished now and this week friends will do a quality check.

Question:

Please describe in other words (so that I can understand zwinkernd):

-"Shows mostly SEPARATE knowing"
-"Shows mostly CONNECTED knowing"

Does "SEPARATE knowing" describe in a polite way that she/he is not very on topic zwinkernd?

Thanks in advance and best regards,
Andreas

(btw. visit the summit on the Eyers Rock and you can find my entry in the guestbook from 1995 zwinkernd)

Holger Schadeck (Holger.Schadeck@webdesign-forum.de) has recently submitted a draft German version to me, which I've already checked into CVS ...
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/moodle/moodle/lang/de/

I hope it's possible to build upon each other's work. gemischt

Hi Martin and Holger,

from my point of view it's really a pity that the wheel so often has to be developed twice!

I started on October 1. and posted this here...
I asked for help...
Holger, why did you not post here?

I don't know how the communication here is but I think this forum is the main point for language stuff... please let me know when I'm wrong.

After 3rd party QA this week the translation will be done.

Question: are the translated files still needed?
(maybe not... hope that quiz tool will come soon zwinkernd)

Better communication is needed!

Best regards,
Andreas

Hi, Andreas.

I'm truly sorry if you feel bad ...

Holger emailed me privately about his tranlation only on the 9th, and in my reply I asked him to contact you in this forum. He has had some trouble accessing moodle.com so that may have been why he didn't. Suddenly a few days later he sent me his first draft.

I had no idea if you were still working on yours, but I should have posted here to let you know about it. I'm sorry I didn't. I sometimes forget everybody isn't watching the CVS logs! traurig

Yes, this forum is the place to keep in touch about these matters and you did the right thing.

I'm still very keen to use your translation and if the versions aren't mergeable, then I'll carry both of them.

I hope we can sort this out in a friendly way!

Regards,
Martin

For all those of you,

who still do not know.

The German translation is in the CVS.

Everybody, who want to help me to fine up the translation could email me.

I have written a merge tool and a quick and dirty auto machine translator,

both I have checked in the CVS under /lang/de.

Because of my missing time I had still no chance to translate the help files by hand,

but so every German has a base to fine up the help texts from horrible to beautiful German

and to do so every German should be able to. biggrin.gif

Holger.

Hello Holger,

i will help you to fine up the translation. My opinion is, that is very important to have the complete translation in german.
But i can't find your translation in the CVS directory. Please, can you help me, or send me the file by e-mail.
I have try my own trnslation in the last days. My version you can find as attachment to this post.

Hi Andre,

I just sent Holger some more translation (eMail) and tell him about your file. I think that we have to improve the way we work, what we need urgent, is a better coordination, who is working on which part and the way we translate some words. I hope Holger could do this.

Great to see some activity here! And yes, it would be fantastic to see some progress on the German translation.

I've set up a glossary you can use to keep track of words ... there is undoubtedly more that can be done to coordinate efforts between different people here. I would like to see a facilitator who wants to take this on, and also translate all the English labels in this course into German.

Please, don't use this old thread anymore ... let it die, and feel free to start new threads using German. lächelnd
