Virtual classroom module

Hi,

We have a need for a module that would work like breeze or centra and integrate with Moodle such that the recordings would be automatically available in Moodle as well as the logs of attendance and management of classrooms. Has anyone seen anything like that or be interested in that concept?

Thanks
Ismael

There is a block for illuminate Live, but i am sure there would be a lot of people interested in what you have planned, me included.

Re: Virtual classroom module

Kristina Schneider -
I'm interested as well. I wrote a message a few days back about integrating Vyew into Moodle (http://moodle.org/mod/forum/user.php?id=2479&course=5) and I'm addressing the same issues.

Knowing that there is a block for illuminate Live is a good first step. I'll see if I can figure out how to install this block.

Thanks!
Kristina

Rajeev Arora -
Full Disclosure: I work for Elluminate.

Kristina, Jason, Ismael,

You can read more about the functionality of the Moodle Block for Elluminate at http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=56488 and http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=56959. Documentation lives at http://docs.moodle.org/en/ElluminateLive_module and you can download it from http://moodle.org/mod/data/view.php?id=6009

Remote-Learner (in US) and Open Knowledge Technologies (in Canada) developed this and can provide support as well.

Hope that helps.

Thanks,

Rajeev

Hi!

We also need a module for breeze meeting integrated with moodle. It seems possible to integrate if web service api of breeze is utilized. Unfortunitely, I don't know how to write a php program for moodle block.

Thanks.

Re: Virtual classroom module

Alistair Maur -
I recommend WiZiQ's Virtual Classroom ( http://www.wiziq.com/Virtual_Classroom.aspx ). It's free to use, you can inform students with a unique URL, that you get when you schedule a session (as a teacher, of course--you need to sign up as a teacher, after you have become a member of WiZiQ) and you get recordings after each session, which is again a hosted URL.

Hi Alistair,

I was just wondering in case you have idea about:
  1. Can they introduce advertising in future.
  2. If recordings can be deleted by the teacher.
  3. If recordings can be downloaded to the hard disk.
Manish.

Hi Manish,

Interesting questions. I could not help digging for information and here is what I have come up with:

1. I see that they have information regarding your first query here
2. There is no option available to delete recordings yet
3. There is no option to download recordings to the hard disk yet.

I contacted WiZiQ and I was told that a lot of new options are being added to future releases. They also have a new release of the virtual classroom scheduled soon. Also, what is available now will always be free and more free options will be added.

Re: WiZiQ

Manish Verma -
Hi,

Thanks for digging for the information.
  1. Advertising: They are not saying anything about advertising in the free version. They are just saying that the basic version will be free forever. I was quite keenly following Vyew development till they introduced paid versions. The free version now has lot of advertising. Imagine when you are taking a class and advertisements keep on running wink.
  2. Recording: I wonder if they would like teachers to run away with recordings in the free version by allowing it to be downloaded to the hard disk. Coming back to play the recording can be a good way for the company to show its advertisements.
Manish.

Adobe Connect Meeting(Breeze) module integration

Jong-Dae Park -

Hi!

A Korean company (www.jinotech.com) in cooperation with us developed a breeze meeting module.

The 4th Korean moodle workshop (http://moodle.or.kr/course/view.php?id=13) was held in Seoul on Oct 13, 2007.

They  demonstrated a sms module using xml (first part of the following screencast) and Adobe Connect module. Adobe Connect module integration can be found at the latter part of the following screencast.

Jonas Lagneryd -
Hi,
The Adobe Connect integration looks very interesting. I would be happy to learn more as I am developing a service using Moodle and Connect Professional (Adobe hosted version).
Kind regards,
Jonas

Alistair Maur -
By the way WiZiQ's classroom is a service called AuthorLive
This is a paid service, which can be integrated with your own website. I suggest that you explore that too if you need your own virtual classroom.

Re: Adobe Connect Meeting(Breeze) module integration

Terry Shane -

I'm also an Adobe ConnectPro user and would love to be able to integrate my ConnectPro meetings inside my Moodle installation.

Any information on how to obtain this module and customize it to run in English would be greatly appreciated. How can I learn more?
