Wiki Page Name glitches

Wiki Page Name glitches

Hi everyone:

I did a quick search on Moodle bug tracker but the only two tickets that I could find are these two:
http://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-1355
http://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-4530

Basically, one of our instructors found this bug. The "page name" of the current eWiki will become permanent once you assigned it, and what's even worse, is that if you update this wiki and saved it, even that you didn't change the "page name", it (the page name) will be reset back to the name of the wiki!

Here is an example how to reproduce it:
1. Add a wiki and name it "test 1"
2. Give the "Page Name":  Spring 2006
3. Then save the changes
4. Now the "Page Name" become permanent. If you want to change it to another name (say you made a typo or you want to change it to "Fall 2006", you can NOT do that).
5. If you click on "Update this wiki" again, surprise! You will now find the "Page name" has been changed (or reset) back to the name of the wiki.

If this a known behavior of the current wiki? I tested on several versions of Moodle (from 1.5.2+ to 1.5.4+ to 1.6.1+), all behave the same way. Should I report this to the Moodle bug tracker? Also, anyone has a fix to this problem? Thanks!

Re: Wiki Page Name glitches

Hello

I reproduced what you say but with different results. my page name did change on the update wiki page but not in the real wiki

let me explain.

Page name is not a christening of the wiki.
it says
If you want the first wiki page name to be something other than the wiki name, you can specify it here. This name will become the first page of the wiki for every created instance of this wiki.(did you create permanent pages in that wiki???)
If you leave this field blank, the initial page name will be the wiki name, unless you select a page in the 'initial page' field.

Now
What i see is that you have NO INITIAL PAGE either.
Try having a few pages in that wiki and then try again to do this. note what name appears on top of wiki pages.

I agree that when you click on update wiki, the page name appears to be same as that of wiki, but even after i re-started the wiki after saving, my page names remained same on the wiki page.
May be because i have a specific initial page.

But yes, inability to edit the page name is annoying.
