I am planning on upgrading my moodle to either 1.6.2 or 1.7

I am running this on windows xp right now and would like to know if there are any problems upgrading to either new versions of moodle.

I am planning on putting this on my new linux server I am building but that will be next week some time.

If anyone has any suggestion please leave me an note.

Also can I just extract the new version over the old and run moodle or do I have to do a complete backup and then reinstall moodle.

Thankssmile

I know there are problems upgrading from some dev version to some other dev versions.  This is not a problem, we don't support that, it's a DEV version and a lot of bug changes are happening.  Sometimes we don't put in the extra effort to help just a few people who may be following the dev path.

Upgrading from 1.6 to 1.7 is a different matter, and we are very interested to make that smooth and trouble-free.

Hi David,

Whether you upgrade to 1.6.2 or 1.7 depends upon whether you wish to use a stable version or a development version (not recommended for production sites).

Regarding how to upgrade, please check the Upgrading documentation.
