In previoyus versions of moodle I used the journal function a lot.
We asked our clients personal questions and wanted them to reply to them.
What is the best way to do this now, the blog function is not an option as it needs to be easier for the clients.
What I want o now that is most pressing is have a question where I want each client to develop their own list of 20 items for their own records? Or is there a way that they can create thsi list and then a personal quiz be formulated that they can test themselves?

The journal activity effectively still exists. It was combined with the Assignment activity. Select the "Online Assignment" type. You will actually find it is much better than the old Journal.
