Wow!   US$730,000/year just for maintenance?  Where does that go?

Someone's got a nice fat wallet out of this project.   wink

I noticed that CourseWork had a downtime of 10 days over the New Year break for upgrading and the same in the summer. At that time, they added a QuickQuiz module and an Assignment module to post papers to teachers. (big sigh)

But apparently, they are giving up on that commercial product and going "open source" at a cost of only....

"The collaboration of Stanford, the Indiana University system, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor to create open-source courseware tools and related software for higher-education institutions is a step in the right direction. We hope this $6.8 million effort will produce a superior product that can be used in the future."

"A better solution would be to adopt a new, cheaper equivalent of the CourseWork program that would have the same capabilities, but at a cost less than that of the CourseWork-brand product."

Hmmm....., bet someone could do it for only $500k US with Moodle.  Wouldn't they be happy, heh heh!
