Hi everyone,
I'm using moodle to teach adult deaf learners literacy and numercy... is it possible to have real-time cam contact in Moodle so my students and i can sign to each other through the cam contact??
I don't think there's anything that makes it possible directly within Moodle. There are some projects underway to develop videoconferencing features (such as COVCELL) but they're not yet developed.
I'd recommend you use something like iChat (for Mac only) or SightSpeed or WengoPhone or Yahoo Messenger or... there are probably others. However, those are all separate systems, so (for most of them at least) you'd need to ask your students to download the software and then say "Now let's do video chat - open up your video-chat software and we'll talk through that".
It'll be easier in future... but for the present that's the way to go, as far as I know.

Thanks Dan,
I'm thinking that perhaps if I had a link to Yahoo Messenger from within one of my forums then perhaps the student could access vidcam that way. I'll certainly be watching for developments in the area of Moodle videoconferencing.
Cheers,
Rob

In the profile are fields for various IM+video systems such as Skype, Yahoo, MSN etc. See mine for example, there is a link that will let you call me on Skype (but don't!
