What are you doing with your autologout settings?

We are planning to upgrade to Moodle 4.4 and I see that there are new autologout settings for the mobile app. I was wondering what other institutions are doing for these. We like the convenience of students not needing to reauthenticate often, but also see the privacy/security issue in never logging them out. We recently turned out biometric login in hopes that that will make the autologout easier on users.

I also have one question about how this feature works which I can't answer from reading the setting and the mobile app documentation. Does the logout timer reset when a user returns to the app before it's elapsed? In other words, if we set it to one week, does that mean users login every week or only after a week-long absence? I think it's the latter but I'm not sure.

Hi Eric,

As you said, autologout works very well when used with Biometric login, and, according to what we've seen, it is used in environments where strict security measures are in place because of the Moodle site content's sensitive level.

Regarding your question, the answer will be after a week-long absence. The timer is set every time the user abandons the app and reset when the user returns.
