Dears,

we use various type of questions. One specific question type consistently produces a bug. The answers given to numerical questions (only one answer) are getting lost when the attempt is submitted ON PHONE. We have tested that several times with several quizzes on Android and Apple smartphones. On the computer (windows), this error does not happen. 

Is this a known bug or error already?

I have not tested it in embedded questions with type numerical. We are fine with using short answer instead, where the bug does not appear.

Is this just your Moodle site, or does it happen on any Moodle site?

thanks for the link. I couldn't reproduce the problem in that quiz.
But I think, I narrowed down the problem:
 
 
This is a quiz I quickly set up in the sandbox. The problem comes from moodle showing TWO input fields, when the numerical question type is including "_____" for the answer. In that case, both the _____ answer field and the answer field below the question are displayed. If you choose the upper answer field, the answer is going to be lost. 
It does not happen for short answer type of questions. Here how it looks like in a quiz:

If it is showing two input boxes, that is a serious bug. If this is not already reported in the Tracker (in the MOBILE component), please report it.

Well done for working out what the problem is.

thanks for following up on this. 

I couldn't find a "Mobile" category in the tracker. Here is where I checked:

I am still new to moodle, so maybe I checked the wrong place or missed the right category.
