Error: Plugin Check Failed After Moodle Upgrade

Error: Plugin Check Failed After Moodle Upgrade

Hi,

I just upgraded my Moodle site, but now I’m stuck on a screen that says "Plugin Check Failed", showing some plugins as incompatible. I don’t want to break the site by removing them, but I also don’t know if I should wait for updates or manually fix them. What’s the best way to handle plugin compatibility issues after an upgrade? Should I disable them or look for alternative solutions?

Thanks!

You're highly unlikely to break the site by removing them. That's definitely what I would do.

You should get the updated versions of all the non-core plugins that you have installed on your site BEFORE you upgrade the site to a newer version of Moodle. Never try to upgrade a Moodle site using old versions of non-core plugins that you haven't checked for compatibility with the new version of Moodle that you're upgrading your sit to.

Do you have new versions of those plugins that are compatible with the new version of Moodle that you are upgrading to? If you do, then upload the new versions of the plugins to your server replacing the existing version of the plugins. Then run the plugins check again.

If you don't have new versions of those plugins then it's probably better to backout the upgrade and go back to your previous version of Moodle. Then you can try the upgrade again after you've obtained new versions of the plugins that are compatible with your new version of Moodle.

Thanks for the helpful responses, everyone!

I’ll look into getting the updated versions of the plugins and replace them on the server. If I can’t find compatible versions, I’ll consider rolling back the upgrade to ensure everything works properly.

I didn’t realize the importance of checking for plugin compatibility before upgrading, so I’ll be sure to do that in the future to avoid this kind of issue.

Thanks again for your advice!
