Using Moodle for Onboarding

Using Moodle for Onboarding

Hello everyone,

I’m looking to use Moodle to host onboarding tutorials, trainings, and other resources for staff. I’ve created similar sites before, but I wanted to see if anyone has a good example or model to reference. I’d love to follow best practices to ensure this becomes a well-organized, one-stop hub, rather than relying on scattered links and documents.

Thank you so much for your help!

Hi Ryane - Have you taken a look at Moodle Workplace? One of the main use-cases for Workplace, in my understanding, is employee onboarding. For example, see this article.

You can certainly use the open source Moodle LMS for employee onboarding, but you might have to spend more time to figure out how to host it, how to use it well as an administrator and teacher, and perhaps how to implement workarounds to achieve your employee onboarding objectives.

Here's an article from a Moodle Partner company with a comparison of Moodle Workplace and Moodle LMS.

If you'd like to use Moodle LMS, the free online courses on Moodle Academy are a great way to pick up the basics of Moodle administration and teaching. You can use MoodleCloud to set up a Moodle site for yourself, and if your needs evolve you can switch to a self-hosted site managed by your team or by a company such as a Moodle Partner.
