LTI and Calendar interraction

LTI and Calendar interraction

After beginning the transition from "Turnitin Tool 2" to Turnitin's LTI 1.3 integration, I was surprised to see user complaints that the due dates for assignments no longer appear on the calendar. I was even more surprised to find out that LTI integrations seem to be incapable of pushing due dates or reminders to the calendar.

I'm curious why this is the case, especially as it seems to be an open feature request for an extremely long time (MDL-51430). LTI 1.3 seems to possess startDateTime and endDateTime as variables, are these values inconsistently used in a way that would prevent LTI assignments from reliably interacting with the calendar? Or is it simply a matter of LTI instances not having a due date column?

Most of the LTI implementation in Moodle was done by the commuinity and this was never a priority. We are currently moving LTI from a module to a core subsystem, Turn It in is helping with this work as there will also be enhancements to their LTI integration which as dependent on the move to core. The issue you listed is a high priority to be done once the core move is done, TII, Microsoft, and several other vendors have expressed that this is a major issue for their users so we are keen to resolve this. I dont have a timeline at the moment given the amount of othe work to be completed first but 5.2 would be the latest I would want to get to this if practical.
