How to hide navigation during quiz attempt

How to hide navigation during quiz attempt

Hi!

We are using browser in the kiosk mode when a student attempts to take a quiz. That way a student can't open a new website, program or anything else. The problem is that navigation is not hidden during the exam so a student can freely browse the entire website and then return to the quiz.

The only option that I could find in the Site administration is Show blocks during quiz attempts and that option is not checked.

I even thought that it might be something with the template that we are using, but even with the default Boost template, the navigation is visible during a student's attempt to solve a quiz.

Is there an option that I can set to make all navigation invisible during quiz attempts? I'm talking about header and the side menu.

Safe Exam Browser would be your best bet if you want to control the visibility of other element on your Moodle server's interface.

That's true. But I already have a browser that open up in kiosk mode when a user starts an exam. That's why I can't use Moodle's Safe Exam Browser. Is there really no way tu remove all navigation from the website when a user is taking an exam? That's pretty strange since Moodle is an open-source standard for online learning. I mean, users shouldn't be able to browse the website while taking a quiz, right?

I think it is important to remind that a browser in kiosk mode is not equivalent to SEB. From their home page (https://safeexambrowser.org/about_overview_en.html):

SEB runs on a local computer and it is connected via the internet to a learning management system (LMS) or an e-assessment system. Generally SEB works with any web based LMS and other kinds of web based exam systems. Some learning management systems (LMS) like for example Moodle, ILIAS, OpenOlat and exam solutions as Inspera Assessment offer a quiz mode specifically compatible with SEB.
