Getting an account on the site, let assume that students paid the school fee for course HCD123 ONLY, but teacher would like to differentiate HCD123 into 3 different group for assignments, HCD123-A, HCD123-B & HCD123-C, but under registry, students ONLY paid the school fee for HCD123, not ABC sub-group under records, under this situation, would you allow teacher to enroll students into HCD123-A, HCD123-B & HCD123-C separately?
Any suggestions?

From whom are you expecting a reply?   Is there a time limit?

Since Email (even if by proxy forum) is consulting, where should those that respond send the bill? (this is Sat. so that's time an a half!)

Hi Eric - It looks like you are asking community members to do some thinking for you. I'd suggest two things.

  1. Think through the scenario yourself and tell us what you would do. Read up basic documentation and use Moodle-specific terms. For example, "registry" doesn't mean anything in Moodle.

  2. Rewrite the scenario to make it easier to read. For example, say Course X instead of Course HCD123.

Mary, Ken, Ravi and other helpers who are stymied over Eric Eric,

I think Eric Eric is an example of a SLM (Small Language Model), the opposite of the LLM (Large Language Model). We initially I thought he is a (human) Moodle consultant building his own FAQ by shooting the questions at us [1] or just a channel hog [2]. Then came answers in other discussions which were obviously the work of some LLM. I was puzzled: Why he won't find answers to his own questions the same way?

Now I think the questions themselves are the work of a robot. No human can traverse the Moodlesphere at this speed with the utter disregard to its documentation. And the absolute resilience Eric Eric shows to annoyed and reprimanding reactions from the helpers, shows its, abot lack of empathy. That is why the new theory, Eric Eric is a bot, a bot of an upcoming SLM which plans to build its database interactively, by interrogating humans. We are faced with the intriguing questions of a) proving it is indeed a bot b) how the questions are generated. We need a new Turing test for the age of the AI. As a bonus, once that is established, find out how to feed this bot with garbage or to make it regurgle its own data.

Coming to the new Turing test, I don't think a self-introduction is a strong one. May be, either it was asked repeatedly and looking for slips or demand information which can be elicited in the analog world. We need a bold quick thinking person to take the bot by surprise.

Eric Eric - when you first came to Moodle.org asking questions about AI in the Moodle Research forum, I thought you were a bot because your questions were obviously generated by or enhanced by AI.

 Since you have been asking questions here in the General help, your language has been more like that of a non-native English speaker. 

I thought your ability to upload relevant screenshots (eg of the School demo site) meant that you are probably human and I am still inclined to believe you are perhaps someone extremely inexperienced who has either just got a job as a Moodle admin/Moodle support person or is hoping for a job as a Moodle support person and is trying to learn Moodle quickly, bypassing all the usual steps. 

I'm pleased to see that you started reviewing the Books in several Moodle Academy courses, although I'd like to see you try some of the quizzes too (Can bots take quizzes, anyone?) 

I too would like reassurance that you are human rather than an SLM. (Remember I asked you about yourself before and you were a bit vague?)

I too have gone back and forth about whether Eric Eric is a real person or an AI bot, and learned that some follow-up posts may make us think that this is a real person. I also asked Eric Eric to give us some background several weeks ago.  It appears whenever we probe a bit, trying to discover if Eric Eric is a real person, our probing is ignored.
 
Either way, it seems obvious that Eric Eric is not following our advice and continues to post "Google searches" here, on Moodle.org, instead of posting them on Google.  
 
I have stopped posting replies to Eric Eric.  This post is for you and others who are noticing some bot-like posting.  Everything considered, if Eric Eric doesn't identify him/herself, it would seem appropriate to block this user.  It is fair to point out to Eric Eric that Moodle.org's code of conduct has been violated.  It seems that someone is playing with some AI-type system, and taking advantage of us. Eric Eric's interest does not appear to be to learn Moodle, which is what Moodle.org is about.
 
(I could believe that this is someone, like Martin, doing research on AI to see how far he can test us. Sorry, Martin.)

Thank you, Visvanath, for this dramatic warning. I am inclined to agree with you. While humans figure out how to become prompt engineers to get the most out of AI, perhaps there's a new class of AI that is doing the same thing with unsuspecting humans across the web.

Tend to agree!  But don't think it's 100% bot ... just sometimes .. there is a human behind it.  Mary is in the position to discover a lot more but not through Moodle interfaces ... at the network level.   I'd be interested in seeing the IP addresses of exchanges with Eric Eric in whatever .. forums + academies.  Person could truely be in Hong Kong and leasing space on another network where the SML/bot exist.

If there is a creation, there must be creator. And the creator in turn, must have been created by another creator - in a philosophical sense.

In a more techy sense, source IP addresses are too weak to follow a sophisticated bot and its driver. The web server admin may have to do browser profiling and related surveillance techniques. I understand Mary not wanting to take moodle.org along such unethical paths.

That reminds me that I overlooked the obvious: Mary's language expertise. Many, many years ago I entered Moodle academy under a pseudonym. From my very first post, Mary knew who's behind. Simple, subconscious  language traits, I was told. So moodle.org, doesn't need any fancy lexical analyzer.
