Hello, is there a way to somehow make cohorts visible in the dashboard? 
we want to analyze the performance of different groups (aka cohorts)

Depending on which version of Moodle you are using, you could include cohort data in the Custom Report or SQL query.

Improved custom reports by cohorts have been made in the upcoming Moodle release (4.4) and beyond - for example reporting on badge assignments
