How to correct an online activity with fewer clicks

How to correct an online activity with fewer clicks

Good evening,

We have a moodle 3.9 with several online activities. Normally each of them has 3 open questions where they are answered with free text.

When it comes to corrections, it becomes very tedious since you have to go to each response item per student, and when the popup for said response opens you have to click on rate to be able to enter a score/feedback and save. This multiplied by 3 questions for each student and 150 students is a horrible number of clicks.

We would need to continue with the online questionnaire format since we have implemented a staggered entry that allows the system not to collapse.

The alternative of uploading a file instead of an online assignment has been tried but it causes more problems than the one we use since there are problems with the students due to the format of the file and the possible closure of the activity before they upload it. With the online activity, it is sent automatically when the time is up even if the students do not click on the send button. The problem at this moment is basically the teacher's task to correctand how to make it more bearable in some way by maintaining this type of activity but reducing the number of clicks to correct.

Any ideas?

Greetings.

Use a quiz and then the manual grading option which allows you to mark the entries of all students in one form instead of opening many single windows.

Using a quiz the way Matthias suggests is probably most convenient to go along with what you are currently doing. However, any time you are wanting to have students write "free text" you might want to try out the Diary plugin.

Thank your for your response.

But the professor must see the student response to each question before grade then they have to do every click to check the answer and after that do the grade manually as you say.

The best option is to use a rubric but the quiz don't have this option.

So, it appears that your only problem with uploaded files is that students use different software. You can:

1) prescribe the software they must use, such as Word, text, Google, Pages, etc. Give them about three choices: Word, Google Docs, or Text.
2) train your instructors about how to open these different file types.

The text format (*.txt) is quite universal. You might not even need additional text files, the text can be typed straight in to the assignment.
