Student Peer Tutors and the Announcements forum

Student Peer Tutors and the Announcements forum

I have students enrolled in courses throughout our Moodle 4.1.4+ instance.
Some of these students also have a distinct, custom Student Tutor role (initially based on Student) in other courses.
The Tutors would like to only have forced subscription of Announcemenst in their own courses, and not when they are a tutor.
Any suggestions?

Example: Joe is a "real student" in CHEM 400, but a Student Tutor in CHEM 100 and CHEM 200. He only wants Announcements from the Teacher of CHEM 400.

If you put them in groups then you can restrict access to the forums by group.

I appreciate that suggestion, but I thought that would only work for content-based Forums. Am I incorrect?
I'm trying to help the tutors reduce an email onslaught from the Announcements (aka News forum) forced subscription forum.
Thanks!

Why does the "Announcements (aka News forum) forced subscription forum" has an email onslaught? Only teachers can post in it.

Yes, only Teachers can post. But the Student Tutor role is based on Student. That means, for example,  if Bob is both a Student (say, in 5 classes) and a Student Tutor (perhaps in another 5 classes), then he is getting a great number of Announcements from faculty. And often they might be from the same faculty if Bob is a student in CHEM-400, but a student tutor in CHEM-100 and CHEM-200.

I could perhaps create the Tutor role based off Teacher, but that cares m,e because the Tutor should have no access to grades or assignment settings.
