In the crossword puzzle, when two words appear in the same row or
column, it does not allow an answer to be given to either word and the
game cannot be completed.
With previous versions of the plugin it works fine

In my case it is different because it only occurs when two words appear on the same line or column. In that case, the box does not appear to answer those words only.
No error messages of any kind appear.
We have the same problem on Moodle 4.1.5
I have made a bug report about this. https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/CONTRIB-9401
A fix was made earlier today. I tested it on 4.1.6 (downloaded the new version from Github) and it works.
