I was struggling to get the feedback activity to work for students on the front page (in order to use the feedback block in courses). After a lot of digging I found that in 4.0 the "Authenticated User of Frontpage" role no longer has an permissions for the Feedback activity. Prior to 4.0 it had View and Complete permissions. Since this change, a feedback activity put on the frontpage will not be available for students to complete. It can be resolved by adding these permissions back in, but I'm curious as to whether the change was intentional since it breaks this particular functionality?

Just dealt with this same thing yesterday! I actually like to make mine completely anonymous and just have students complete on front page, whether logged in or not...not sure why they made the change.
