Course modules are not translated

Hello,

We are having an issue with the translation of our course module pages. Our entire website is in French, and we have set the following parameters to French:

Website language
User preferred language
Course language
All the website is in French but when we go into a course module ex: ".../mod/quiz/…" it switches to English. The content that is usually automatically translated switches to English and the top menu (which is in French everywhere else) switches to English.

Some ".../mod/forum/…" pages seem to work with no issues, ie. buttons, text, and menu are in French, while others are also not translated to French.

We already checked the settings stated above many times, cleared the cache, checked if the language package was installed and re-installed it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Our version of Moodle is "Moodle 4.1.2+ (Build: 20230324)" but the bug was already occurring with version 4.1. Everything is running on a remote linux server, database is MySQL. There does not seem to be any errors or warnings in the debug mode of Moodle.

Hi Hadrien,

Moodle 4.1 includes the ability to force the language for a single activity (MDL-74608) ; have you verified it's not just that in the parameters of this activity?

HTH,
Séverin

PS : don't hesitate to ask your questions (in french) in the course "Moodle en français" wink

Hi Séverin,

Thank you so much !
We have been using moodle for a while and had no idea why these courses switched to English.

Your solution works perfectly.

If I may, I had checked in the 'appearance' section of the modules to check for the same 'Force Language' parameter as for the whole courses, but the setting is actually in the 'common module settings' tab, which seems a bit inconsistent.

But anyway, thank you !
