Free preview; payment part-way through course

Free preview; payment part-way through course

Is it possible to set up a course that has a few sections for free, then requires payment for the remaining sections?

In practice, I want one enrollment method to only work for the first few sections, and another enrollment method to work for the entire course.

TIA

No, unless someone has come up with a plugin. An alternative would be to have two separate courses - one that is free and one that is paid.

That is what I am doing now.
But the people who are doing the free preview have complained that they have to redo the modules again in the full course. (The modules need to be repeated because many people purchase the course outright.

That looks promising!

Question: if there is more than one payment method, will this restriction prevent someone who used another payment method from continuing?
  • For example, if there is a manual enrolment to the complete course.
  • For example, with bulk sales, learners are provided with a registration code that gives them access to the complete course.

Thx

If there are multiple payment methods available and someone has used a different payment method, it depends on how the system is set up. The restriction you mentioned might prevent someone who used another payment method from continuing if the restriction is specifically designed to limit access only to those who used a particular payment method.

For example, in the case of manual enrollment to the complete course, if the restriction is set up to grant access only to those who paid through a specific method (let's say online payment), then someone who used a different method (like bank transfer) might be prevented from continuing unless they fulfill the requirement of the specified payment method.
