Moodle does not recognise an already used device

One of my students has brought this to my attention.

She keeps receiving "new sign in to your account" emails, even if she has been using the same device:

Your .... account was just signed in to from a new device.

  • Your account: ...
  • Monday, 2 January 2023, 7:06 AM
  • Device: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 12; SAMSUNG SM-A528B) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) SamsungBrowser/19.0 Chrome/102.0.5005.125 Mobile Safari/537.36
  • IP: ...

Two points:

1. The messages only concern connections from her mobile phone and not when she logs in on her laptop.

2. She receives these messages once a day even if she logs into her account several times a day.

Hello there. Please read how to stop this in the section "How to disable the 'New sign in to your account' notification" in the documentation page Notifications

Thank you for your reply Mary, but I don't want to disable the notifications. It's a useful security feature.

However, these messages should only be sent once: when a device is used for the first time.

There seems to be a bug where Moodle does not recognise that a device has already been used.

Has this been added to Moodle Tracker?
