I understand that there are activity completion dates for quizzes, but I'm looking to have a due date feature on a Quiz, just like Assignments have the option for due date. When a due date (as opposed to an activity date) is set, then on the course view page, it actually shows when the assignment is due. I want to have the same feature for Quizzes; to show when the quiz is due. Activity completion dates do not show on the course view page.

I suppose the other solution would be to show Activity Completion dates on the course view page. For now, it is very tedious for me to open each and every assignment/quiz in order to double check the date I set (because I use Activity Completion for uniformity purposes in both Assignments and Quizzes since Quizzes don't have due dates).

Hi Sarah,

Not sure if I misunderstand you, but does the Quiz Close time not work for you ? You can find it in the quiz settings.

No, it doesn't work for me. I want to allow students to be able to still take the quiz, even after it is due. The due dates are used as guidelines for when to complete each task (or when to have each task completed by).

I second that request VERY, VERY MUCH.

I would at the same time point out that due dates in quizzes should also be included in Group overrides and User overrides - just like in Assignments. (Completion criteria are no good for that - exceptions cannot be set.)

To be honest, I really think there should be one global standard in Moodle for soft deadlines (Due dates) and Hard deadlines (Closing dates / Cut-off dates) across the board for all/most[?] (core) activities. Some API solution is indeed that non-core plugins could use as well.

I third this and for a thr same reasons (consistency between all activity modules for when staff is setting due dates, and the due date passing doesn't stop kids from working). It's also soooo easy to set all the due dates natively in the Moodle admin menu's" Course Completion" - "Bulk Edit Activity Completion" because you select the few activities at a time the only need to add the date once to apply to each selected item. The 3rd party Dates report is great but a bit more tedious in having to set the date for each individual activity. So support for having the activity completion due date appear on the course page with the activity completion requirements would be handy 微笑

Hi John,

Have a look at our designer course format. It already displays the expected due date on the course home page per activity.

In addition, activities that are due/overdue are highlighted orange/red to make it easy for students to find them.

And there is a course header which provides a quick summary about the number of completed, due and overdue activities.

A discussion about dates across all activities can take a lot of discussion. I will add a few thoughts.

So, Sarah, you do not have a "due date" for quizzes, you have guidelines. You want to allow students to take a quiz anytime. I don't understand why you feel it is fair for a student who honors the due date to be treated equally to someone who misses a due date. Perhaps a "guideline" should be, "make sure to take a quiz before its due date."

And what would you do if you had a quiz that allowed multiple attempts? Should multiple attempts be extended until the cut-off date?

Of course, you can always create a quiz override for any student.

I don't know. I am only trying to cause some thinking.

I like this idea of a Due Date, and since we are the topic of creating uniformity amongst the key activities, can we add an Opening date for Forums
