'Number of sections' missing while editing course area

Hi all,

Not sure whether this has been posted before. Kindly note that we are currently testing Moodle 4.0.4 and we have noticed that upon the creation of a new course area the admin has the option to set the number of topics:
Course format section

However, when a Teacher clicks the Settings link within the course page, the Number of sections setting is no longer visible:
Course format section in editing page

Is this intended or a bug, please?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Naomi

Hello Naomi - it is intended since it is very easy for a teacher to add or delete sections wherever they wish within a course now. If you are using Topics format you will note that you can add topics between topics. And if you press on Add topic and click several times you can add lots of extra sections quickly.

Thanks Mary for your prompt reply.

I agree that it is now much easier to add topics, especially since they can add sections between topics. However, honestly, we would have preferred if our users have both options given that in the past this was available. Though it is easy to carry out a delete, it could be quite tedious if by mistake they add multiple sections and they would then need to delete them one by one.

Thanks and Regards,
Naomi
