We have been experimenting with this for a while and have come to conclusion whatever we go on with this or leave it for time being.
It all started with promising idea that teachers could use OneDrive for business as space to keep and share some of their course material.
We had some issues at beginning with our test servers being behind bit too tight firewall and it took while to realize that. After we got around with that, we gave it a shot.
Biggest problem is that we have more methods of logging in to our Moodle than shibboleth/azure. While users connected their account with azure could see material linked from OneDrive on courses but others using non-azure logins couldn’t see them. This would cause big problems for teachers. Teachers could go to their OneDrive and create manually link that would be open to the whole world and copy that url to their course. Thou that is lot of manual work and makes o365 plugin useless.
Suggestion for future is to have option when using this plugin to choose between "People in your organization with the link can view" and "Anyone with the link can view". It’s the same option that one can choose when manually sharing files from their OneDrive. This would allow at least in our case everyone to see content shared from OneDrive.
As for now we are letting this rest while we focus on getting ready for Moodle 4.1.
