MoodleCloud Subscription - 45 days Trial

Hello, Moodle Community.

I understand there was a previous discussion posted more than a year ago regarding the same topic, but it has been closed for further reply due to the one-year duration set. I would like to find out if I will need to pay after a 45-day trial. If yes, how much? What if I have approximately 125 - 150 users? Do I have to pay a subscription fee based on the number of users? How much?

Hello Jonathan. I'm not in the Cloud team but basically if you want to continue with your site after the 45 day trial then you can choose your plan from here: https://moodle.com/solutions/moodlecloud/
Scroll down to where it says Choose your plan and select from the dropdown which size plan you want and it will show you the price. (You will probably want either the mini or the small if you have 125 - 150 users)

Thanks for the promptness!
I did, but it doesn't lead me to any subscription page other than registration. I suspect the subscription won't be triggered until after the 45-day trial ends. Therefore, I do not know how much they charge for 100-500 users which is critical because I need to include in my department budget. Thanks!

That seems a bit on the expensive side. I think it is probably better and cheaper to host ourselves.

Unless you have technical people who work for free, If you add up all your costs, I promise it will cost you more overall than that. However hosting yourself does give you additional choices, especially to install and use additional plugins and do customisation.

The MoodleCloud site used to have a table comparing its plans side-by-side, the price and the matrix of features. I am looking for it for some time, can't find. What I find is only this "hyper-sensitive" UX thing, which just shows one thing at a time, thinly stretched, but no overview. I believe MoodleCloud has arrived at Web 3. (Or is it Web 4?) I haven't.

Or to put it another way, it would be nice if all the options were laid out in a table...

A final word to the OP before I dive: The one on a previous screen-shot  is not the only plan available - not the only currency.

Hi Jonathan,

If you'd like to upgrade prior to the end of your trial, you are welcome to do so from the MoodleCloud portal as follows:
  1. Log in to your MoodleCloud Portal.
  2. Enter your site name and your MoodleCloud password (which is the same as the admin password for your MoodleCloud site).
  3. If you are in the EU or UK, please ensure your VAT number is correct (If applicable)
  4. Click on the Upgrade button to take you to the Change plan section. image
  5. Select the plan you need.
  6. Confirm your payment details to complete your purchase.
  7. Click on Pay now.

As for the price, that depends on the plan you subscribe to. Please note that our plans have a set limit for users and storage and we do not have any extra addons just for users. On the other hand, you'll have the ability to suspend users to not count towards your quota.

If you estimate that your site will have 125-150 users, then you might be interested in subscribing to the Mini plan which comes with 100 users and see if you are able to fit all the needed account with the ability to suspend users. If that is not enough, then you'd be able to upgrade at any point to a larger plan that could fit more students.
