Change "courses" and "classes"

Change "courses" and "classes"

I am working with a small non-profit using Version 4.0.1 (Build: 20220509).

I would like to change the term "courses" and "classes." They prefer the term "learning paths" to display throughout the user experience.

I would think I could control this in Site Admin > Appearance. But, I can't figure out where to go from there.

Any help you can provide is appreciated!

Although - with the "course" being the cornerstone of Moodle, you've just broken nearly all the online documentation if you want to use it.

And, worse, Moodle already has a "thing" called a "Learning Path" which is a sequence of courses. It's up to you, but I think you might be creating a lot of confusion for yourself.

Hi Howard,

Thank you for trying to help me. As I mentioned in the other thread, we are a small non-profit. Our volunteers come into Moodle to learn about the work they will do for our organization. The terms "courses" and "class" really don't apply to how we're using the platform and have confused some of our users. They see the word "course" and think its something for credit or that it will be hard. We thought Learning Path was a little less threatening and more in line with our expectations for what our volunteers need to accomplish.

That said, I found the link to Language_customisation and got this:

You didn't say it was Moodle Cloud.

I'm guessing you are using the free version which has very limited options for customisation.

As an aside, I got that where I work. "It's not a course it's a blah blah blah". I just started calling it "Moodle Course" (with capitals) to anybody who would listen to me. They calmed down eventually big grin
