hi my institutional moodle site - http://66.152.172.82/login/index.php shows up the ip address. What needs to be done in order to display the name from configurations? (dns records have been done accordigly though)

If you want your Moodle site to go on-line under http://example.com, then put that in $CFG->wwwroot line in its config.php.
P.S. This is not about a Moodle community site, I would say Installing and upgrading help forum is the correct place.
