Hello, since the update of version 4 of Moodle, I have encountered problems in the administration of my course on the Moodlecloud platform: Impossible to make a backup, impossible to restore my course, impossible to delete users, etc.

I contacted MoodleCloud to ask them to help me, they responded to my first two messages telling me that he did not have enough staff to solve my problem. Since then, they haven’t responded to my messages.

The problems I have with using my course on MoodleCloud started when I updated version 4.

I pay for a subscription to MoodleCloud that they’ve committed to managing the kind of problem I’ve encountered, yet they don’t do anything—

What can I do?

Frances and her team have fixed the backup and reset issues on my Moodle course. Thank you for this work.

However, now I no longer have access to my question library!?

I hope Frances and her team will fix that quickly. Thank you.

Can you share with us what error you are seeing?
I am curious if this is a MoodleCloud platform issue or something in Moodle LMS itself.
Especially because I don't have this issue on my own Moodle LMS.

When I ask to open the question library, the system tries to load the pade of "Question bank", but can’t!

A moment later, I received the HTTP 504 error message.

However, when I open on Restor, Backep or others, the page opens instantly.

Hi Christian,

Solving this issue is not something I can help you with. 

But I might be able to help you with providing Francis team has information to solve the issue on your behave, and with that preventing you bump in another one - because this seems to be more likely a server configuration issue then Moodle software related.. 

So maybe you got time to answer these questions:

  1. If you go to a different course, and try to open the Question bank, do you get the same and/or other error? 
    if not that it is isolated to this course, which I am doubtfull on but good for them to know. 

  2. Are you able to turn on Debugging > debug message: Developer: extra Moodle debug messages for developers? 
    (You can find this setting by going to Site Administration > Development > Debugging. You can also visit this page by editing this url to your environment: https://YOUREVENIROMENT/admin/settings.php?section=debugging)

  3. If you succesfull turned debuggin on, are there any messages showing up. If so share them with Francis and her team.

  4. With debuging on, try to go the question bank again within the course where it was not working. If you see any debugging messages please share them with Francis and her team.

  5. You can turn debuggin off now, by revisiting the page and switch debug messages to: Do not show any error or warnings.

  6. Can you know visit the "Enviroment" page, you navigate to this in the following way: Site administration > Server > Enviroment, or edit this url to your environment: https:yoururl/admin/environment.php?

  7. if you can visit this page: is every line showing status "OK" , if not please share which are not ok with Francis and her team. 

If you are in contact with Frances and her team through different channels, I would suggest sharing the outcome of these questions directly with her and not through the forum. 

I hope the team will respond quickly to you to solve this issue.

I'm also part of the MoodleCloud team and had a look at your site.

After a "purge all caches", accessing the question bank for the course I see on your site seems to load the question bank correctly as far as I can tell (meaning, I see a long list of questions on "/question/edit.php?courseid=5"). If there are other questions that are not loading correctly, or I misunderstood the problem, please let us know.

This issue is known to the developers and a fix is being tested. All the details are available on the Moodle Tracker: https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-74762. MoodleCloud will deploy the fix once the development team has confirmed it's good to go.

Unrelated to this issue, the php XML-RPC extension can be safely disabled by going to "/admin/settings.php?section=webserviceprotocols" on your site. When MoodleCloud upgraded to Moodle 4, we chose not to force disable this extension on all sites, since a few of them might still be using the XML-RPC protocol. We will most likely disable it over all sites in a later upgrade, once everyone has had a chance to notice the deprecation and move on.
