I am self-employed, making me both the site administrator and teacher. Right now, it seems that I have to have one account with one email address for the site administrator role and a separate account with a different email address for the teacher role.
Is there any way I can assign both roles to myself, to the same account?

Yes. One is a site role, the other can be allocated at the course level.
