Newbie here. Found moodle through a series of searching starting with a "opensource software for online multiple choice question test", and read an introduction and some quick articles. Most of them talk about how to set it up.
I am looking to setup a little home server running Moodle (or such software) which would allow me to enter set of questions (MCQ type) with right answer, and then have Moodle manage hosting it as a timed test. For instance, I would like to add say some 50 odd questions, and set a timelimit of 90minutes to solve them. A right answer would fetch 5 marks, and a wrong answer would deduct 1 mark. Non attempt has no deduction. During the test, the person taking the test should be able to see the current question, a high-level map-view to see all questions attempted, and those that are still pending, or those marked for review in a sidebar, time left. After the test ends, candidate should be able to see some analysis as to how much time they spent per question on an average, which question they spent most time one etc.
This is a personal online test server, which I hope to use to give some practise to my son, who is taking several tough competitive exams and we've almost exhausted all decent such hosted services that have questions. I'd be looking at having the setup ready on a VM (or a container) in 1-2 days at max.
I am quite comfortable with linux, have been a developer and SW architect in past life by not an active programmer/developer anymore. However, I think I can work my way around software reasonably well.
The question boils down to, how much of the above desired functionality might be available in Moodle out-of-the-box, and how much could come from say specific plugins ? Also, is the above achievable in the timeframe or is it highly unlikely ?
thanks in anticipation.
regards,
B
