Student Attempt Disappear

Hi,

I've stuffed upon another question. It was meant for multiple answers to a multichoice question. After students' attempts, I change the answer to one answer only but if they select 3/5 it will be correct. After that, I press regrade.

Students query and claim they have done the question but their attempt could not be seen. I try to check the log of the student, but that information was not available. Or it is hidden somewhere that I am not aware of?

Thanks!

The logs should show, for the most part, what a student did on a quiz. What do you mean "that information was not available?"

empty attemptUnder the bottom of the attempt it shows only the start of the quiz and the end of the quiz, it doesn't show students had selected a choice in a multichoice question. But the students claim they have. I have more than 200 students, can't be all of them are lying, someone must be telling the truth but it's not showing up in Moodle.

I am not sure. What you might want to do is to invite one of these students into your office and have them take a quiz in front of you. Also, you can create a bogus student and try taking the quiz yourself, seeing what happens.

Hi Rick:

Question Type: Multichoice

So I've set up a test account and found out after completing the quiz, the attempt is there:
before

Afterwards, I go and change the answer from "One only" to "3 correct each at 33.33 per cent", press save and regrade. Then the attempt disappear.
after change

If I revert back, and press regrade it doesn't go back to the original. The disappear responses remain disappeared.

Why is that?

I will have to defer to someone more knowledgable about the inner workings of multi-answer multiple choice, and what gets interpreted by Moodle. Maybe Tim will see your question and jump in with some thoughts.

I wonder if Moodle thinks that since you both changed an answer (one to three) and also regraded, that the student didn't really do this question.

I guess the point of my post is now I realize it does wipe the attempt off, always make sure the question is correct. As to why the attempt could disappear, I'll wait to see if Tim has some answers smile
