Insert h5p content any page outside a moodle course.

Greetings colleagues.

Someone may have asked the same thing before, but I have a need to post content created in h5p outside of courses.

My idea is to create a content using the documentation tool to create a help center on a moodle site.

I am using the Local Pages extension and tried to insert the content using the h5p button in the Atto editor.

I get the message that it cannot be found and the file is in the main content bank of the site.

I also need that content to be public.

Any idea how to do this?

 Thanks in advance

Spanish:

Saludos colegas.

As an alternative check - maybe you can do without the "Local pages"? I have not tested, but here's one way:
Turn editing on
On site home add block "Main menu"
Add a new activity Page there, give it a title etc etc, and save. Copy the URL link to the page.
Hide (do NOT delete) the "Main menu" block.
Go back to the Page and try to embed the H5P file in there.
See if it works for you, then try the Page URL in another browser without logging in.

HTH.

Hello.. Mr. Kaszubski. Sorry for my late response. I am in middle of a great project and today I could read your message.

It worked!!! Thanks a lot.. you are a life saver... !!!

I hope this helps others to take advantages of H5P to be more creative...

To me, the Documentation tool could be a great game changer for delivering good looking and structured information such a help center for moodle users.

Thanks again... I hope to help you in the future.

Greetings

But we must truly thank Mr. @Przemek Kaszubski  for giving us light with this tip. I just ask for possibilities that I imagine using this tool.

I am trying to use every tool (educational or not) that could be integrated with Moodle to have more attractive and better structured content for students and teachers.

Any other concern to tip and tricks discovered will be shared with all of you

Thanks to you for following up the subject.

Blessings.

Another way to do something like this is to open up a course using Guest access to public view. Put the embeds in the course from the site content bank or put them directly into that course; either way would work.

Useful if one wants to have a separate and visible "home" for all such public embeds or activities, with its own URL address.
Such a course needs to be visible in the course structure - either directly, or perhaps put into a hidden course category if we don't want it to be browsable directly from the site.
The solution also requires that guest access be enabled on the site, automatic login as guest enabled for course / activity URL's that are open for guests, and that guest "enrolment" be open in that course without a password.

Przemek,

Yes, it would depend on that exactly you want to do. If the documentation needs to be publicly available but you don't want the front page to be seen (that is you have Force login turned on), then course level guest access would work. Otherwise, I would not use Guest access, I would use your suggestion.

Greetings my colleagues,
Excellent comments.

Since I started using Moodle I was always interested in being able to put activities or resources on the main page without having to request or give access to a registered user.

I liked the idea, since many activities and resources could be useful to document and inform our students and teachers or the general public about many topics related to the platform or articles of general interest directly from the front page.

If you remember, before we had to create a course, give access to guests and then we could use pages, forums and other tools for the guests to use. But it was a course like any other.  I did not liked that structure.

If you checked the other posts included in this conversation, there is a description of my first steps and tools to get to this point suggested by Mr. Kaszubski.

Thanks to all.

Saludos Sr. Romero.

Importante estudiarlo bien y apreder a controlarlo.

COMPLETE POST

Greetings, Mr. Romero.

Thanks for your interest.

Well... for a while I've been trying to create stand-alone pages that don't need to create courses or have a registered user to view some kind of content.

I am always trying to locate the best options to combine them in Moodle and achieve results out of the box.

Used plugins:

  • Local pages: Excellent tool to create independent pages outside of courses: https://moodle.org/plugins/local_pages
  • Static pages: Another option to create independent pages. *** I personally prefer Local Pages. https://moodle.org/plugins/local_staticpage. You can experiment.
  • Boost navigation fumbling: With this plugin you can modify and generate options for Moodle's main menu (only in Bootstrap and in later versions of the traditional menu). This option allows you to link the created pages with your own menu option. Impressive results in addition to menu control using even roles. https://moodle.org/plugins/local_boostnavigation
  • And last but very promising, we have H5P: Working with this new tool that integrates the content produced with the Moodle platform. I have considered several of the types of content that H5P offers us.
    • Document Tool: Allows you to create a type of content with very useful properties to create documentation with an interesting design, with an independent table of contents and always visible to users. https://h5p.org/documentation-tool
    • Column: Allows you to generate a page that can contain various types of H5P content. https://h5p.org/column
    • Interactive book: This is the most complete and complex content. It allows to integrate other H5P contents in interactive book format. https://h5p.org/content-types/interactive-book it would be nice to experiment with.

These are the alternatives that I recommend in order to develop a kind of Center or Help Area for users. It would be very interesting to continue experimenting to add more functionality to Moodle in the way we would like to improve the interaction of information with users.

I hope I have given you a satisfactory answer.

Greetings and good practice for you.

If you are only interested in guest i.e. preview of the content, I think this could also be done directly in the content bank. You can create a empty course directory and adjust capabilities there for guest users of the content bank so they preview content (not create or deploy).
