Thanks Tim! It was the 1st course that I restored in a new moodle. I made sure that the email system worked, and it did. I finally restored a couple more courses and they worked perfectly. This morning I deleted the one that wouldn't work and restored it a 2nd time. It works perfectly. I'm glad I didn't get stuck any further with the first course.
So I created a quiz notification role, Used an authenticated user and enrolled them in the course as an authenticated user. I searched 'email' in permissions, made my user a quiz notification person in locally assigned roles, verified his permissions in locally assigned roles. I think the key is not getting stuck on the first restore when it didn't work. Thank you Tim! Cindy
