Mathematics tools

Dear Community,
some of our teachers are using mathematical formulas in Moodle quizzes. As far as I know these formulas will be rendered by MathJax filter in Moodle. Some of our students told us, that the rendering of the formulas in quizzes takes some time (eg up to 20 seconds). Other students had no problems.

I'm not shure why rendering is slow. Could it be that browsers on client side (eg version, browser setting, plugins, ...) can delay the rendering? Or will rendering be done only on the server?

Is there any possibility to make rendering faster? Eg install MathJax-Library localy on the server? Changing MathJax configuration in the filter settings?

PS: we are using Moodle 3.9
