Navigation to quizzes

Navigation to quizzes

Hello,

Currently in version 4.0-dev, we have a situation where regardless of the status of quiz attempts (to do, in progress, try again, finished), the opening 'Summary page' has the same button that simply says "Attempt quiz":

  • When students wish to resume an attempt, the button "Continue the last attempt" has been changed to "Attempt quiz".
  • When students want to try a new attempt, the button "Retry the quiz" has been changed to "Attempt quiz".
  • When all attempts are complete, the "Back to Course" button has been changed to "Attempt quiz".
  • In addition, the message "Finished: Receive a grade" is displayed even if there are still attempts.

If these changes are final, they will wreak havoc among students and create a student support nightmare, as another moodler put it ↗.

Cases where:

  • an attempt is in progress,
  • there are more attempts available,
  • there are no more attempts available,

should be clearly identified on the Summary page, as they were in the latest version of Moodle.

I would suggest you contact Tim Hunt ↗, a senior software developer and maintainer of several quiz-related modules for many years, without delay to coordinate any changes to the quiz navigation. Talk to each other.
