EyeOS Integration

Hi,

I had an idea, has anyone ever seen/used EyeOS?
Could this webbased desktop be put into a moodle module, something like "My Desktop" or as an extention to My Moodle?

http://www.eyeos.org/Screenshots - Obviously Screenshots
http://www.eyeos.net/eyeOS/ - EyeOS Demo Site
Just a thought,

Very interesting ideed!

Their servers are slow so I am putting it on ours as I type. Some of the ideas / features would fit great into the MyMoodle concept IMHO.

I believe that EyeOS is opensource, I'm not an expert on the subject, would they let moodle developers take source code? If not would it be easy to create a module based on a "web desktop", the chameleon theme could provide a base for it?

Just thinking out loud...

Also not an expert but yes it is open source and I have it up and running on the same server as Moodle.

As for intergration I think this would be tricky as eyeOS uses files instead of databases and is actually nowhere near as complex as moodle. It would be a great first step if somebody could get eyeOS to use the moodle database to authenticate it's users but there is actually a lot of overlap when you start digging around but a moodle desktop with the OS X theme would be very cool indeed.

I would welcome a desktop environment for moodle. Even more if it could save the state each time you log off. It could be an optional extention to My Moodle or as a seperate module for students to organise their work in each course.

Perhaps EyeOS, being opensource would be kind enought to help us?

I guess it would be hard to integrate it with Moodle, I'm not a developer, so I cant be of much use sad.

Anyone want to give it a try?
