It appears that the textbox used for editing languages in the string editor interprets the html code "e;. Such that there is discrepancy in strings like popup in quiz.php, when you edit and save it.
But the html code is saved as is in the php file. You can see this if you open it with a text editor.

It also parses numerically coded html character entities.
