Authentication Certificate (Error 403) post migration to new server

Hello!

I'm trying to find a solution for a problem I'm experiencing now that a test server copy of Moodle has been cloned to a DMZ server for the purpose of eventually hosting to the internet. Both 'test' and 'DMZ' have a https URL. We are still on 3.11 but was hoping to upgrade once this error is fixed.

Problem

Once a user has login and clicked on a link, a certificate authentication window appears. If the user clicks 'OK' they are referred to a 403 error with a URL for the 'test' server. This issue was initially found on the login screen but now only appears once a user has logged (maybe unrelated but this changed once our IT dept. changed the default URL). It occurs on both Chrome and Edge browsers. Afterwards, all links on the same browser then become 403 until the browser is closed and the user login again to their account in which they receive the certificate window again...

  • I have tried search and replace to change the URL throughout the DB
  • Checked the config file for the correct URL of the cloned Moodle
  • Checked all files on the IIS have been unticked for SSL and the option below to ignore

I'd be grateful for any suggestions on how this can be fixed.

Mark
