I am teaching indices on Moodle Using Stack.
I generated the answers by subtracting powers

For example, the correct answer would be x3  As shown below.

x5  \( \div \)x2  = x(5-2)   = x3

But the system also accepts  answer below as correct


How do i enforce the former answer other than the latter one

Checkout out the different answer tests - it looks like you are using "Algebraic equivalence". EqualComAss: Equality up to Associativity and Commutativity is probably better here.
