Feature request: set custom icon to a preconfigured tool

The possibility to set a custom icon for a preconfigured tool (instead of the external tool generic one) would be very useful. Do you think it is possible, for how the external tools work?

In case, where can I add this feature request for external tools?

Hi Chiara,

You can in fact already do this. Go to Admin > Plugins > Activities > External tool > Manage tools and edit a tool. In the "Tool settings" section, click "Show more". You'll see an icon and secure icon URL pop up. Set one, and your tool will show up with that icon instead of the generic puzzle piece.

Hi Chiara,

That's a question I can't answer. Maybe one for your organisation to assist with. Perhaps you can upload and store the icon in the same place as other educational resources. In some cases, you may be able to use an image hosted by the tool provider itself, on the provider's site for example. See also MDL-45105 which talks about allowing icon uploads, rather than just relying on an icon URL.
