You really are better off persisting with your University to find a solution. This kind of thing is probably not a bug, but purely down to the way they have set up their site, and since you, and we, can't know how it is set up, it's almost impossible for anyone here to help. If they are not able to fix it, encourage them to come back here with more information about their set-up.
